Can hypnosis help me?
Hypnotherapy will almost certainly be able to help anyone who wishes to improve their performance or change their behaviour in some way. It is particularly effective at reducing stress or anxiety, and for overcoming irrational fears and phobias. But you do not have to have a "problem" to benefit from hypnosis - we can all sometimes use a little help to boost our motivation to achieve a personal goal. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) provides a proven and effective method of "rehearsing" a desired behaviour in certain circumstances, so that when that situation arises in real life the mind already knows how to respond. This can help improve behaviour in general (such as managing anger or stress) or in specific circumstances (such as examinations or a driving test). The human mind learns very rapidly, and a behaviour that has been rehearsed mentally will quickly become the natural response in real life. The foundation weight-loss programme aims to instil behaviour changes that will allow weight to be lost easily, naturally and permanently.

If hypnosis is so wonderful, why does anyone have any problems?
Hypnotherapy is not a magic wand. The single most important ingredient for success is the client’s own motivation. Indeed, you can only gain from hypnosis if you really want to achieve your objective. That is why Blue Skies places considerable importance upon techniques that increase motivation and determination, because if you want something enough, then you will achieve it. At the same time, we identify those resources that a client will need to succeed, and rediscover them within. The human mind is extraordinarily resilient and resourceful and we all have within us the strength, courage and determination we need in our day-to-day lives. Sometimes our self-esteem and self-belief can be dented by events in our lives. At Blue Skies we boost self-esteem and self-confidence so that clients really believe in themselves and their ability to achieve their goals.


What can I expect from Blue Skies?
Blue Skies Hypnotherapy recognises the need for client and therapist to work together and so you are guaranteed courteous and empathetic treatment. An initial consultation usually takes about 20 minutes; it will be conducted in absolute confidentiality and is free of charge. At the end of the consultation the therapist and client will decide whether or not to proceed. Sometimes therapy can begin immediately, and sometimes not. All charges are in the open before therapy begins. Sessions are as long as they need to be and so vary in length, but are usually between 75 minutes and 2 hours long. Many people find that when an issue is shared with a therapist it somehow seems reduced in size and more manageable. At Blue Skies one of our aims is to make the whole experience rewarding and fulfilling for the client. The therapist is on the General Hypnotherapy Register and subscribes to its Code of Ethics.
